He graduated at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana in 1973.
From 1977 to 1980 he worked in Group KRAS.
He was a member of an editorial group for the architectural magazine AB - Arhitektov bilten.
From 1983 he headed an organizational committee of annual Piran days of architecture.
In 1992 he founded architectural magazine Piranesi and was its editor-in-chief till 2010.
From 1993 to 2009 he was a lecturer on Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana.
In 2003 he founded architecture office Ravnikar Potokar d.o.o., together with Robert Potokar.
He was a member of Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia (ZAPS).
