The design of the Rupena House is derived from its edge-of-settlement location in Moravče, the geometry of the plot, its orientation towards the cardinal directions, and the surrounding landscape views. The house is further defined by its position at the outer edge of the existing built-up area.

The programme is distributed across two levels: the main living spaces occupy the ground floor, with the service areas located along the northern side, while the upper floor accommodates the bedrooms.

The house is positioned at the edge of the settlement, along the road and adjacent to the forest edge, and is conceived as a visual landmark. It is set back from the road and positioned along the easternmost edge of the plot, preserving the larger southern and western parts of the site as undeveloped areas.

The residential volume is covered by an 8-degree mono-pitch roof. The house is “classical” in its construction and material expression—masonry with rendered façades—yet contemporary in its architectural language. The roof is conceived as a clean triangular prism integrated into a unified building volume.

Openings are carved into the volume, while the upper floor is separated from the ground floor by a horizontal opening, offering a contemporary interpretation of the traditional wooden ganki—covered external galleries characteristic of the surrounding region.

The entrance is further emphasised by the offset volume of the chapel on the upper floor. This projecting volume creates a sheltered canopy above the entrance, clearly defining the main entrance to the house.
